Having indoor heat and air conditioning is a true blessing. Any country that has these amenities truly is a blessed in so many ways. Currently, the east coast is in the middle of a heat wave and the current temperature is 91 degrees and is expected to rise to almost 100 degrees, and that isn’t even taking into account the actual feel with humidity. I try to remember to be grateful that we can stay inside and keep away from heat exhaustion. Since I have been fortunate enough to grow up in a country that has heat and air conditioning, I find it hard to imagine what it feels like to not be tucked away inside when the temperature rises or falls dramatically.
Since it’s so common to take advantage of these great home features, it’s something that we may forget to maintain. Maintaining your HVAC unit and all of the important parts that go along with it should be a top priority to make sure we have these comforts that we have grown so accustomed to. Having your air filter checked, replaced or cleaned is really easy and can be done by anyone that owns or rents a home. It’s highly recommended that you have a professional HVAC tech come out and inspect your unit once before summer and again before the winter season. Try to remember that a lot of people contact these technicians in the spring and fall months, so try to plan ahead accordingly.
It’s helpful to have someone knowledgeable at home that will know where the unit and breaker box is located. Your HVAC tech will want to test a lot of the electrical workings of the unit so having access to shut the current off is very useful. If your system has been making any weird noises or has had any trouble heating or cooling your home, be sure to inform your HVAC technician.
